Man Fatally Shot in the Head in South Chicago Wednesday Identified

CHICAGO — A 21-year-old man was shot in the head during a drive-by in South Chicago Wednesday morning, police said.

Around 11:17 a.m., Devante Warnsby was walking in the 8400 block of South Essex Avenue when a man in a gray car pulled alongside him and opened fire, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

He was taken to Christ Hospital where he was later pronounced, police said.

Warnsby, 21, of the 8400 block of South Oglesby Avenue, was identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. He was pronounced dead at 9 p.m., the Medical Examiner's office said.

No one is in custody for the shooting.
