CHICAGO — A man who escaped a Kankakee County detention facility earlier this week was arrested in Calumet Heights Friday, police said in a statement.

Kamron Taylor, 23, of Joliet, is facing multiple counts of weapon possession and use of a firearm by a felon, police said.

Around 9:20 p.m., police responded to calls of a suspicious person in the 9200 block of South Harper Avenue, police said.

As officers approached, Taylor started to run away. After a brief foot chase, police arrested Taylor and recovered a .38 caliber revolver, police said.

After facing local charges, Taylor will be turned over to Kankakee County authorities.

According to the Tribune, a three-day man hunt ensued after Taylor, a convicted murderer, attacked a guard before escaping a Kankakee County Detention Center.

Taylor is set to appear in bond court Saturday.
