JEFFERSON PARK — The auditorium of the Copernicus Center will be filled April 10 with the sounds of the world premiere of a new piece of music from Polish composer Agnieszka Stulgińska, organizers said.

Stulgińska's piece was commissioned by Access Contemporary Music in an effort to bring attention to "distinct, vibrant and excitingly original sound" of classical music composed by Polish musicians, said Seth Boustead, the executive director of the group and a host on radio station 98.7 WFMT.

The piece composed by Warsaw-based Stulgińska will be performed in its entirety by Access Contemporary Music's Palomar Ensemble for the first time as part of a concert at 7 p.m. April 10 at the Coperincus Center, 5216 W. Lawrence Ave.

Stulgińska composed "Dance With my Breath" in three installments, organizers said. Stulgińska emailed each portion to Chicago as she completed it, and it was rehearsed and recorded in front of a live audience and posted on acmusic.org for Stulgińska to hear before moving on to the next part, Boustead said.

“I’m so excited to come to Chicago and hear the final product performed all at one time,” Stulgińska said.

The concert will also feature the work of Krzysztof Penderecki, Zygmunt Krauze, Agata Zubel and Chicago-based Marta Ptaszynska, Boustead said. It will be recorded for broadcast on WFMT, he added.

General admission tickets are $20, while tickets for students and seniors are $8.
