CHICAGO — Several Chicagoans apparently think their cat has what it takes to learn improv at the famed Second City Training Center.

On Wednesday (yes, April Fool's Day), Second City announced their cat improv class, which would teach feline "imPURRvisors" the concept of "Meow, And"—a reference to the improvisational rule of "Yes, And-ing," or confirming then adding to the action of one's stage partner. The course also promises that cats will no longer feel the need to chase their own tail, but will learn to work as an ensemble to "chase each other's tails."

The class registration page concludes with the guarantee these classes will give cats the "best nine lives ever" and instructs proud parents to watch their feline's graduation performance at the facility's new "Startled Cat Theater."

However, to the disappointment of many, the improv course for cats was, of course, an April Fool's Day rouse.

"We have gotten some calls on it, from people asking if it's real," said Ellen Willams, a student services manager at the training center. "It really started as an office joke. We have a 'naughty cat calendar' that's hanging up, so I think that's what inspired it."

Each year, hundreds flock to Second City's training center, 1616 N. Wells St., in the hopes of rising to the ranks many of the theater's now famous alumni, including Stephen Colbert and Tina Fey.
