CHICAGO — Authorities have identified a 24-year-old man who was shot and killed in Englewood Monday afternoon.

Keith Stokes, of the 6200 block of South Stokes Avenue, was pronounced dead at 2:07 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Around 1:50 p.m., Stokes was sitting in the passenger seat of a car in the 5700 block of South Morgan Street when another car pulled up alongside and someone inside fired shots, striking Stokes in his upper body, said Officer Thomas Sweeney, a Chicago Police spokesman.

After the shooting, the driver drove a couple of blocks away to the 5600 block of South May Street, where Stokes was pronounced dead, Sweeney said.

According to police, the shooting is believed to be gang related.

No one is in custody and police are investigating.
