CHICAGO — One person is dead and two others were wounded in South Side shootings early Friday, police said.

Shortly before 2 a.m., a 24-year-old man was shot and killed as he sat in his car in Avalon Park, police said.

In the most recent shooting, a 31-year-old man was shot in Englewood.

At 2:05 a.m., the passenger was sitting in a car, waiting in traffic, in the 6700 block of South Damen Avenue when a gray-colored vehicle pulled up and someone inside fired shots, striking the man in his shoulder, said Officer Michael Sullivan, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The driver took the man to the 7800 block of South Hermitage Avenue and alerted police. From there, the man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center where his condition was stabilized, Sullivan said.

At 12:20 a.m., a 34-year-old man sitting in his car in the 4300 block of South Wabash Avenue in Bronzeville when when someone in a light-colored vehicle pulled up and fired shots, Sullivan said.

The man was shot in his right leg and was driven to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center by a family member.

No one is in custody, and police are investigating.
