NORWOOD PARK — Students entering high school and starting college who need a some extra cash can apply for two $500 college scholarships from the Norwood Park Chamber of Commerce.

One scholarship is set aside for a student entering high school and one for a student entering college or trade school who demonstrates "a commitment to personal integrity, ethics and community service," organizers said.

The Norwood Park Dollars for Scholars Program was founded to honor Norwood Park's "hard working children and future leaders."

Applications are due April 30, and the winners will be announced May 25 at the Norwood Park Memorial Day parade.

In addition to filling out the application form available at norwoodpark.org, provide a school transcript or report card, two personal references from someone who is not a relative and a 500-word essay about an influential person in his or her life and how he or she changed the applicant's life.

Completed applications should be sent to Norwood Park Chamber, Attention Dollars for Scholars, 6133 N. Northwest Hwy., Chicago, Illinois, 60631.
