MOUNT GREENWOOD — A man known as "Potato Head" was arrested on Tuesday and charged with felony theft for his involvement in a scam in Mount Greenwood.

Tony "Potato Head" Miller, 48, of northwest suburban Des Plaines was arrested in Merrillville, Ind. He was charged with residential burglary and felony theft. Miller also was wanted on two arrest warrants.

The felony theft charge stems from scam on Sept. 16 in which Miller drew the attention of a resident on the 10800 block of South Troy Street in Mount Greenwood. While Miller occupied the resident in the backyard, an accomplice went into the home through the front door and burglarized the place, according to police.

Miller was brought back to Chicago after his arrest in Indiana, Ald. Matt O'Shea (19th) said.

"On behalf of our community, I would like to thank the Lake County, Indiana Fugitive Team, Chicago Police Department and Cook County State's Attorney's Office for their great work on this case," O'Shea wrote in an email to constituents. The email referred to Miller as "Potato Head."

O'Shea asked 19th Ward residents to remain vigilant and encouraged them to call 911 should they notice any suspicious activity.

"Your involvement is crucial to maintaining our safe community," he said.

Miller is scheduled to appear in court on March 31.
