CHICAGO — Five people were wounded in shootings overnight including two people shot within 15 minutes of each other in Humboldt Park and Avondale.
Around 5:20 p.m., a 23-year-old man was walking in the 4200 block of West Division Street when someone began shooting from across the street, hitting the man in his foot, said Officer Michael Sullivan, a Chicago Police spokesman.
The man was taken to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, where his condition was stabilized. The man is a documented gang member, Sullivan said.
Minutes later, a 31-year-old man was shot by a man in another car as he drove in the 2900 block of North Sacramento Avenue in Avondale. The man, who was shot in his neck, drove on to the Kennedy Expy. and waited for EMS to arrive, Sullivan said.
The shooting occurred around 5:33 p.m. The man, who is documented gang member according to police, was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where his condition was stabilized, Sullivan said.
Around 3:11 a.m. Tuesday, a 30-year-old man was shot after getting into an argument after a car accident in the 5500 block of West Madison Avenue in Belmont Cragin. While the man was still in his car the other man involved in the accident walked up to the car and shot him in his stomach, Sullivan said.
The man was taken to Community First Medical Center, where his condition was stabilized. The shooter fled before police arrived, Sullivan said.
Around 11:25 a.m., a 26-year-old man was shot in his left leg and right hand as he walked in the 3300 block of West Lexington Street in Garfield Park. The man was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, Sullivan said.
Around 10:30 p.m., a 24-year-old was shot as he walked in the first block of North Mason Avenue in Austin. The man drove himself to West Suburban Hospital and was transferred to Stroger, where his condition was stabilized, after being shot in his arm, Sullivan said.
No one is in custody for any of the shootings.
