JEFFERSON PARK — Ald. John Arena (45th) and Chicago Police Lt. John Garrido will face off in two televised debates as the 45th Ward runoff election enters the final weeks of the campaign.

Arena and Garrido are set to debate from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday on CLTV. The debate will be moderated by CLTV's political analyst Paul Lisnek and Aldertrack's Mike Fourcher.

The final debate of the runoff is scheduled to take place between 7 and 8 p.m. March 30 on WTTW's Chicago Tonight.

A debate March 17 between the longtime political foes sponsored by several community groups featured a number of personal attacks and pointed criticisms.

Arena, who is seeking a second term on the City Council, won 45.5 percent of the vote and Garrido garnered 39.7 percent. Michelle Baert, who won 13.3 percent of the ballots, endorsed Garrido.

In the 2011 runoff, Arena defeated Garrido by just 30 votes.

The 45th Ward includes Jefferson Park and parts of Old Irving Park, Portage Park, Gladstone Park and Forest Glen.
