CHICAGO — A man tried to lure two sisters into his van by offering them candy in Austin, police said.
The 9-year-old girl and her 6-year-old sister were walking out of John Hay Community Academy, 1018 N. Laramie Ave., when they were approached the man around 4:45 p.m. Thursday, police said.
"Hi girls, do you want some candy?" the man said as he stood next to a white van outside the school.
The girls went back inside the school and told school employees. When the employees went to investigate the man and his van were gone, police said.
The girls said the man was black, wearing a black hat, a black hoodie and black pants. He was tall and wearing black sunglasses.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call detectives at 312-744-8266.
