LINCOLN PARK — While much has been written about the unknown future of the Finkl Steel site, demolition of much of the 28-acre site already is complete.
Demolition of the former A. Finkl & Sons steel plant began earlier this month and has moved quickly.
More than 90 percent of the demolition project is being recycled, according to Heneghan Wrecking Co.
Neighborhood groups, developers and other community leaders have voiced differing opinions on what the future of the prime parcel of land should look like, but the owners have been mum about their plans.
The property sits in a Planned Manufacturing District, which limits the type of development and land uses for the site. Part of that restriction includes residential development.
