EDGEWATER — No injuries were reported Sunday when a garbage chute caught fire at 6144 N. Winthrop Ave., according to the Chicago Fire Department.
The department tweeted about 4 p.m. Sunday that residents were rescued through the apartment building's windows after heavy smoke.
