
CHICAGO — Police are cautioning residents and business owners after a string of burglaries in Rogers Park.
In the two commercial incidents, a burglar threw a large brick through a window to get inside and then took bottles of alcohol, cash and cigarettes, police said in a statement.
The most recent incident occurred at 5:20 a.m March 8. and the other at 12:20 a.m. Feb, 20. Both incidents occurred in the 7600 block of North Sheridan Road.
The only store selling alcohol on the block is Beach View Wine and Spirits, 7640 N. Sheridan Road.
In the March 8 burglary, the burglar is described as a man age 20-30, and 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-9.
In the Feb. 20, the burglar was wearing a light colored ski mask, white puffy coat, black pants, white gloves, black gym shoes with light-colored soles.
In addition, three residential burglaries were reported earlier this month.
In each incident, the burglars entered the residence by punching out a rear door window or prying a door lock before kicking in the door, police said.
The most recent incident occurred at 4 p.m. March 3 in the 1600 block of West Juneway Terrace. A second burglary occurred at 10 p.m. March 2 on the same block. The first residential burglary was reported at 7:30 p.m. March 2 in the 1400 block of West Jonquil Terrace.
