3 Robberies in Uptown Prompt Police To Issue Warning

CHICAGO — Police are warning residents to be on alert after three armed robberies in Uptown.

During the robberies, one or two men approached the victims and demanded their property while showing or suggesting a handgun, police said in a statement.

Two robberies occurred Monday, the most recent at 5:40 p.m. in the 4600 block of North Winthrop Avenue, and then at 2 p.m. in the 4700 block of North Winthrop Avenue. The other robbery occurred March 5 at 7:30 p.m. in the 4600 block of North Kenmore Avenue.

The Kenmore robbery was carried out by two black men, one wearing a black jacket and described as a 30 years old, 6 feet tall and 160 pounds.

The 4700 Winthrop incident was also carried out by two black men: one was described as 33 to 36 years old, 6-feet to 6-feet-2 and 175 pounds. He was wearing a black peacoat, gray trapper-style hat, dark sunglasses and dark blue jeans. The other was described as having a light complexion, between 26 and 29 years old, 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-7 and around 190. He was wearing a white baseball cap with a crossed swords logo and black jeans.

In the most recent incident, the robber was described as a 40-year-old black man, 6-feet-2, 200 pounds, wearing a black jacket and blue jeans.
