CHICAGO — A woman and two children were killed after being struck by a semi-truck in Back of the Yards Friday, police said.

At 4:54 p.m. Friday, a woman and two children, a boy and girl, were hit by a semi-truck in the 4300 block of South Ashland Avenue, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago police spokesman.

The children were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, The woman was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition. All three were later pronounced dead, Estrada said.

The deceased were identified as Elizabeth Peralta-Luna, 30, Dylan Peralta, 4, and Elizabeth Peralta 4, all of the 5400 South Sawyer Avenue, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

According to the WGN, the family was holding hands and crossing the street when the truck struck them.
