Far North Side Known for Vegetarian, Thai, Pakistani Food, Yelp Data Shows

EDGEWATER — The disproportionately most popular food on the Far North Side is vegetarian, Thai and Pakistani food, according to an analysis of Yelp data.

The data doesn't reveal what the most popular type of restaurant is in each neighborhood. (Otherwise, it would be all pizza, burgers and fast food.) Instead, it compares the types of restaurants in a given neighborhood to the city as a whole.

Rogers Park is known for its vegetarian offerings from eateries like the Heartland Cafe and Luzzat. In Edgewater, Thai food tops the list with restaurants like the newly opened Herb.

In the West Ridge community, there is 5,678 percent more Pakistani fare than compared to the rest of the city, with Indian food a close second. Pakistani favorites include Sabri Nihari and Ghareeb Nawaz.
