CHICAGO — A man was rescued after falling into the Chicago River on Monday afternoon, officials said.

At 2:36 p.m., a 36-year-old man fell in the river in the first block of West Lower Wacker Drive, said Officer Veejay Zala, a Chicago Police spokesman.

By the time rescue crews arrived, the man had been taken out of the water and was on a boat or barge nearby, said Chicago Fire Department Chief Juan Hernandez.

The man was taken to Northwestern Hospital in good condition, Hernandez said.
