AUSTIN — A 24-year-old man was shot in his head Thursday night in Austin, police said.

Three men walked up to a car in the 2000 block of North Merrimac Avenue and began firing shots at 9:30 p.m. Thursday, said Officer Janel Sedevic, Chicago Police spokeswoman.

A 24-year-old man sitting in the passenger seat of the car was shot in his head, Sedevic said.

The victim was rushed to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park in stable condition and then transferred to Stroger Hospital, Sedevic said.
