CHICAGO— A Bridgeport wing shop took home top honors at the 16th annual "WingFest" on Sunday
Buffalo Wings and Rings, 3434 S. Halsted St., took home Best BBQ Wing and Best of the Fest honors.
Other winners were:
Best Hot Wing — Output Lounge Sports and Bar, 1758 W. Grand St., in West Town
Best Exotic Wing — Estrella Negra, 2346 W. Fullerton Ave., in Logan Square, for its tamarindo chicken wing
Rookie of the year —Whisk, 2018 W. Chicago Ave., in West Town
Best Mild Wing — Gators Wing Shack in suburban Palatine
Eighteen restaurants participated in the 2015 "WingFest," which drew 2,000 people. Proceeds from the event went to Chicago Neighbors United, a non-profit that provides scholarships to children in the 27th Ward.
