CHICAGO — A teenager critically injured Saturday in a crash on South Lake Shore Drive is facing three DUI charges, police said.

At 10:15 a.m. Saturday, the 17-year-old boy was driving southbound when he lost control and hit a tree in the 2100 block of South Lake Shore Drive near McCormick Place, police said.

The boy was taken in critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, police said.

The boy, who is still in the hospital, has been charged with three counts of driving under the influence, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police Department spokeswoman.

The teen was ticketed for failure to reduce speed, failure to carry a driver's license and operating a vehicle without insurance, Sedevic said.
