CHICAGO — A man was charged in a Halloween shooting that killed an employee of a South Side Chinese restaurant, police said.

Deshawn Johnson, 26, of the 5200 block of West Quincy Street, was charged with one count of first-degree murder, four counts of attempted murder and three counts of armed robbery.

Police said Johnson walked into the See Thru Chinese Kitchen restaurant in the 5200 block of West Madison Street around 7:10 p.m. Oct. 31 and demanded money.

During the robbery, Johnson shot a 41-year-old employee who tried to get a way, police said. The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified the man as Chang Z. Qui, of the 3200 block of South Wallace Street in Bridgeport.

During their investigation, police identified Johnson as the man who also shot a man while robbing a liquor store in the 3100 block of West Montrose Avenue in Albany Park on July 26, police said.

Johnson is set to appear in bond court Friday.
