CHICAGO — Surveillance video released by the Chicago Police Department Thursday evening shows thieves stealing a doggy day care van while it was parking and running.

Earlier statements released by police and attributed to an employee of Urban Out Sitters said the driver was carjacked while sitting at a red light.

The van contained seven dogs that were reunited with their owners Thursday morning after a passerby spotted the van in the South Loop.

On Thursday night, police said two men stole the unattended van while it was parked and running in the 800 block of West Superior Street about 3:45 p.m. Wednesday.

Shortly after the suspects stole the car, a man tried to intervene, but one of the thieves pointed a gun at him. No one is in custody, and the investigation is ongoing.
