LAKEVIEW — It's hard to laugh when the fate of the universe is at stake.

But the new comedy by The Public House Theatre — "The Real World: Space Edition" — could have audiences roaring as it takes aim at galaxies far, far away starting Friday.

The story orbits around the brave commander Sandra Thompson (Sarah Koerner) and flight engineer David Green (Chris Woolsey), who are trekking to the Starship Chapter Two. Their mission: to relieve the less-than-efficient commander Vincent Castro (Patrick Poulin), who is unaware of the planned change in leadership.

Rounding out the cast are Keenan Camp, Trevor Dowd, Jacob Eugene Horn, Matthew Kidd, Meg Kennedy and Abby Vatterott. Stephen Kropa wrote and directed the show.

Kropa and Woolsey have partnered on other praised Public House Theatre projects, including "Future Perfect" last July and a February 2014 two-man sketch show, "Blaque & Bleaux."

"The Real World: Space Edition" will play at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through March 28 at The Public House Theatre, 3914 N. Clark St. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at PubHouseTheatre.com, by calling 800-650-6449 or at the door. The show runs 75 minutes.
