LAKEVIEW — If the cloying sentiments of Valentine's Day left you with a bad taste in your mouth, Pizza Rustica invites you to wash it out with a little-known Italian liqueur.

The Lakeview restaurant at 3908 N. Sheridan Road is hosting a free "That's Amaro!" tasting Thursday. Amaro ("bitter" in Italian) is a potent, bittersweet liqueur made in dozens of varieties and originally served in Italy as an after-dinner digestif to aid digestion.

The liqueur is traditional made with grape brandy and a secret blend of herbs and flavored with anything from lemon verbena, juniper, anise, ginger or licorice.

While amaro is typically served neat, mixologists in recent years have used it as an ingredient in crafty cocktails.

Pizza Rustica's tasting will take place from 6-8 p.m.
