LOGAN SQUARE — Back by popular demand, I Am Logan Square will present Reel Romance, a poster art “show for all those who love or love to hate Valentine's Day.”

The exhibit opens Friday at 2644½ N. Milwaukee Ave. and features posters from a “hidden vault” that revealed a history of Logan Square through films shown at the Logan Theater since the 1970s.

“This exhibition is also part of the proper archiving we are trying to implement to preserve all posters that come through the Logan Theater as pieces of our cultural and material history,” reads an I Am Logan Square announcement for the exhibit. “When we first exhibited the posters at Halloween time, all we heard was 'we want more,' and so here it is."

In honor of Valentine’s Day, the exhibit features “romance-worthy” posters ranging from Disney classics to the "Twilight" series, and including a few 1970s films (Roller Boogie, anyone?).

The I Am Logan Square gallery will be transformed into a “kitschy, super saccharine stereotype of hearts and love tunnels,” by local artists Vivian Malmgren, Caroline Liu, and Kat Seno.

The show will also feature a photo stand where guests are encouraged to copy their favorite romance movie poster pose — and, to make the show more interactive, guests are invited to create their own conversation hearts to decorate the gallery space. Use the hashtag #IALSReelRomance to share your photos.

The exhibit will run through March 8.
