CHICAGO — A man was injured in a fire early Friday in Portage Park, officials said.

At 1:18 a.m., emergency crews responded to a fire in the 5200 block of West Eddy Street, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

A 50-year-old man sustained burns and was taken to Community First Medical Center, Pacheco said.

The man was transported in serious condition, said Jeff Lyle, Deputy District Chief with Chicago Fire Department Media Affairs.

The cause of the fire was unknown Friday morning.
