BRIDGEPORT — For one night each week, staffers at The Duck Inn are letting patrons take over the bar's vintage turntable stereo console.

The "BYOVinyl" sessions take place Monday nights at the bar, 2701 S. Eleanor St.

With its highball cocktails, upscale bar menu and retro vibe, the restaurant's upfront tavern is usually filled with the sounds of 1960s funk and soul tunes.

"As the night progresses it gets more heavy with rock, alternative and funkier funk," said chef Kevin Hickey, the Bridgeport native who opened the restaurant just down the street from his boyhood home.

But the vibe on Mondays will now be anyone's guess.

Guest can play their records on the bar's vintage Grundig stereo console, which is hooked up to the bar's sound system.

Mondays are also "industry" night at the bar, where those who toil away in the city's dining and nightlife scene get a 25 percent discount on their bill.
