CHICAGO — A five-hour standoff between a 48-year-old man and police in the South Loop ended peacefully early Tuesday.

Around 7:40 p.m. Monday, officers responded to a domestic disturbance at the luxury apartment building at 1130 S. Michigan Ave., said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The 48-year-old man refused to come out of the apartment after the incident, forcing police to call a SWAT team to the scene, Estrada said.

A few hours later, the man surrendered without incident. He was taken into custody around 2:50 a.m., Estrada said.

No one was injured in the standoff.
