EDGEWATER — The Edgewater Library plans to screen "12 Years a Slave" at 5 p.m. Thursday, at 6000 North Broadway.

The movie screening is part of a series of events held at the library during Black History Month.

The biopic follows a free black man from upstate New York who is abducted and sold into slavery. It's directed by Steve McQueen and stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Lupita Nyong'o, Michael Kenneth Williams and Michael Fassbender. Released in 2013 it runs for 2 hours and 14 minutes. It is rated R.
