CHICAGO — A man threatened to shoot police when they spotted him on the roof of a West Side business, apparently trying to burglarize it, police said Saturday.

Police spotted the man about 4:05 a.m. Friday on the roof of a business in the 5300 block of West Harrison Street. When they approached him, the man threated to fire at the officers, police said.

No one was injured, and police did not find a weapon. A further investigation found the man had taken several items from the store, police said.

Alvin Bowles, 43, of the  0-100 block of W. 112th Pl., was charged with one count of felony burglary, a felony count of possessing burglary tools, and two misdemeanor counts of threatening a police officer.
