ROGERS PARK — A Rogers Park man has been charged in the Monday shooting of two people in Evanston.

Andre Williams, 26, of the 1600 block of West Juneway Terrace, was tracked by detectives to the north of Howard Street area and arrested, police said.

While riding in a car about 2 p.m. Monday, Williams fired shots and struck two people in another car in the intersection of Custer Avenue and Brummel Street in Evanston, police said.

Police said the victims drove to St. Francis Hospital just a few blocks away. An 18-year-old man was treated for a gunshot wound to the knee, while a 20-year-old man, who reportedly suffered a graze wound, left the hospital before being treated.

Evanston Police Department detectives, with the help of police surveillance cameras, tracked the vehicle used in the shooting to the 7700 block of North Paulina Street, police said.

Williams was arrested and charged with one count of aggravated battery with a firearm and one count of aggravated discharge of a firearm.

Williams will appear in a Skokie courthouse but a date and time had not been set Tuesday evening, police said.
