CHICAGO — A man died after being shot in Gresham Friday evening, police said.

At 6:20 p.m., a 19-year-old man was walking though a parking lot in the 7900 block of South Vincennes Avenue, when a van pulled up and someone inside fired multiple shots, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago police spokeswoman.

The man was shot in his leg and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead, Sedevic said.

According to police, the man was a documented gang member.

The victim was identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office as Afernee Durant, of the 7800 block of South Loomis Avenue.
