CHICAGO — A man was fatally wounded after being shot multiple times in West Englewood Wednesday, police said.

At 9 a.m, a 19-year-old man was standing in the sidewalk in the 6600 block of South Oakley Ave. when the shooting occurred, said Officer Veejay Zala, a Chicago Police spokesman.

A black four-door vehicle pulled up and an unknown black man got out of the vehicle and opened fire, striking the victim multiple times before fleeing, Zala said.

The 19-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, Zala added. He was identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office as Edwin Cook, of the 6600 block of South Bell Avenue.

No one is in custody, and police are investigating.
