CHICAGO — Police issued a community alert following recent burglaries in Ukrainian Village and West Town.

In three separate incidents, burglars use a crowbar to forcibly enter homes by prying doors and windows open during daytime hours, police said in the statement.

The most recent incident occurred Monday at 12:55 p.m. in the 800 block of North Winchester Avenue, police said. The other burglaries occurred on Jan. 9 between 11:45 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. in the 2400 block of West Chicago Avenue, and on Jan. 7 between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m., in the 1100 block of North Wood Street.

The offender is described as black man, 5-foot-10, wearing a full face ski mask, black-hooded sweatshirt, black jacket and black pants. The burglar was seen with a crow bar, and threatened a victim stating he had a gun.

Anyone with information about the robberies can contact Area Central detectives at 312-744-8384.
