STREETERVILLE — Jennifer Hudson and W Hotels are teaming up to help legalize same-sex marriage across the United States.

The Oscar winner and Englewood native will appear at "Turn It Up For Change," a fundraiser for marriage equality hosted by W Hotels and the Human Rights Campaign. Doors open at 8 p.m. Wednesday at The W Chicago Lakeshore, 644 N. Lake Shore Drive.

Admission is free, but W Hotels will donate 36 percent — representative of the number of states that recognize same-sex marriage — of event proceeds including drink sales to the Human Rights Campaign.

A series of monthly events nationwide, "Turn It Up For Change" is "about raising the volume on the battle for marriage equality in the U.S. and raising funds to support the ongoing struggle for LGBT equality in all realms," according to the event website.
