CHICAGO — Nine people were displaced by a "suspicious" fire in Burnside early Sunday, fire officials said.

Around 2:40 a.m., emergency crews were notified of a fire in the 9000 block of South Cottage Grove, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

Fire officials used ground ladders to rescue nine people from the two-alarm fire, which started on the third floor. An EMS plan 1, which includes six ambulances, was also called to the scene.

According to the Tribune, the fire is considered suspicious because of where it began.

No firefighters were injured in the fire but three people were taken to Trinity Hospital with minor injuries, the Tribune reported.
