DOWNTOWN — Participants in the Chicago Polar Dash are poised to run through another polar vortex.

The annual January race will kick off Saturday morning at the southern end of Grant Park by the Museum Campus, Polar Dash organizer Team Ortho Foundation said. The first heat starts at 8:45 a.m.

Runners can participate in 1500-meter, 5K, 10K and 15-mile races, according to the Polar Dash website. Especially hardcore participants can sign up for the Yeti or Super Yeti Challenges, each a combination of the events.

The Polar Dash organizers will provide hot cocoa and shelters throughout the race courses, but runners are encouraged to dress appropriately.

Those interested can register online. The high temperature forecast for Downtown on Saturday is 18 degrees, according to The Weather Channel.
