PORTAGE PARK — The work of painter and Northwest Side resident Jared Haberman will fill the walls of the Perkolator Cafe through Feb. 14.

Haberman often paints on repurposed vintage windows in intense colors. He also often incorporates ripped pieces of paper from comics, prayer booklets, music sheets and phone books.

Haberman said his work is designed to challenge viewers and force them to consider that practically anything can serve as a painter’s canvas, including book pages, windows or plexiglass.

Haberman began to sketch on unconventional materials when he would run out of paper in his sketch books.

The exhibition of Haberman's work is part of a series of exhibitions planned at Perkolator, 6032 W. Irving Park Road, by the Northwest Arts Connection.
