Man Shot Saturday Becomes City's First Homicide of 2015

CHICAGO — A man shot while walking in Austin Saturday morning became the city's first homicide of 2015.

Randy James, 39, of the 4600 block of West Adams Street, was walking in the 5000 block of West Superior Street about 1:30 a.m. Saturday when someone shot him in the side, authorities said.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition. He was pronounced dead there at 5:50 a.m., the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said.
