South Loop Bank Robbed By 'Play Along Bandit,' FBI Says

CHICAGO — The FBI believes a man responsible for robbing at least five banks around Chicago in the last three months struck again Friday in the South Loop.

The man, who has been dubbed the "Play Along" Bandit robbed First American Bank, 1241 S. Wabash Ave. Friday, according to the FBI.

Shortly before 6 p.m., a black man with a goatee walked into the bank, handed the bank teller a note and walked out of the bank with an unspecified amount of cash, said Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The man did not display or imply that he had a gun, Lemmon said.

According to the FBI, the man is about 5-foot-8 and between the ages of 25-30 and usually has his head covered during robberies.

He is also accused of robbing the following banks:

• Fifth Third Bank, 8140 S. Ashland Ave. on Oct. 28 at 10:42 a.m.

• Citi Bank, 2000 W. 79th St., on Nov. 14 at 10:45 a.m.

• First Merit Bank, 1715 W. 47th St., on Nov. 25 at 3:45 p.m.

• Harris Bank, 1620 W. 95th St., on Dec. 6 at 10:04 a.m.

• ABC Bank, 5645 West Corcoran Place, on Dec 20.
