Two Charged in Christmas Day Robbery, Shooting

CHICAGO — Two men have been charged in a Christmas Day robbery in Englewood that resulted in a man being shot.

Police said the two men were arrested on Dec. 25 after allegedly committing a robbery in the 5900 block of South Carpenter Street earlier that day, about 1:45 a.m.

The two suspects approached a 25-year-old man and announced a robbery, police said. During the robbery, one of the men pulled out a gun and fired shots, striking the victim in the leg, police said.

They fled the scene with the victim's jacket and cellphone, police said. The victim was taken to St. Bernard Hospital, where his condition had stabilized.

Kwanie Furdge, 19, of the 5600 block of South Ashland Avenue, and Daniel Hudson, 31, of the 1400 block of West 68th Street, were arrested later that day.

Furdge is charged with aggravated battery for discharging a firearm, two felony counts of armed robbery and two felony counts of aggravated battery for use of a deadly weapon.

Hudson is charged with two felony counts of aggravated battery for use of a deadly weapon and two counts of armed robbery.

They are due to appear in court Saturday.
