Man Fatally Shot in East Garfield Park Identified

CHICAGO — A man was fatally shot in East Garfield Park Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

About 1:40 p.m., a 30-year-old man was shot in the 3300 block of West Congress Parkway, police said.

He was initially taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, police said. He was later pronounced dead.

The man has been identified as Tyrone Johnson, 30, of the 3300 block of West Van Buren Street, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. 

He was pronounced dead at 2:16 p.m.

No further information was immediately available.
