Police Warn of Chinatown Armed Robberies

CHINATOWN — Police have issued a community alert after a series of armed street robberies that have taken place throughout Chinatown. 

Police said a man is approaching victims on the street, pointing a handgun at them and demanding cash. According to the alert, the robberies took place:

• Dec. 11 in the 2100 block of South Tan Court at about 4:20 p.m.

• Dec. 12 in the 1900 block of South Lee Parkway at about 5 p.m.

• Dec. 12 in the 2400 block of South Archer Avenue at about 6:20 p.m.

• Dec. 12 in the 300 block of West 23rd Street at about 7:15 p.m.

The attacker is described as a black male, about 5 foot 4 inches to 5 foot 9 inches tall and weighs about 120-160 pounds. 

Anyone with information on the robberies is asked to call Area Central detectives at 312-747-8382.
