CHICAGO — A man died after being shot in Humboldt Park Monday afternoon, police said.

At 2:40 p.m., a 23-year-old man and another person got out of a car in the 700 block of North Kedzie Avenue when they were approached by unknown men, said Officer Veejay Zala, a Chicago police spokesman.

The unknown men fired several shots, striking the 23-year-old man on his side. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, Zala said. The other person was unharmed during the shooting.
