RIVER NORTH — Goose Island is at it again.

On the heels of the brewery's annual Bourbon County Stout rush comes the release of another rare beer, this one in partnership with Shaw's Crab House.

The brewery has produced only 18 kegs of Pearl: Shaw's Commemorative Common, a malty lager, for Shaw's.

The beer will be tapped at a release party open to the public from 4-6 p.m. Thursday at Shaw's restaurants at 21 E. Hubbard St. and in Schaumburg.

Shaw's and Goose Island have a history. The restaurant was Goose Island's first corporate account 25 years ago. Shaw's is celebrating another milestone this year: its 30th year in business.

Pearl is brewed in the style of a California Common, an easy-drinking lager popularized by brewers in California during the 19th century Gold Rush.

The beer is said to pair well with oysters, which will be served, at half the price, on Thursday. Pearl will be on draft at Shaw's for $7 a pint until the 18 kegs run out, likely early next year.
