COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A dialysis patient at Northwestern Memorial Hospital stole another patient's phone and tried to sell it at a nearby McDonald's, prosecutors said Monday.

Andre King, 25, was arrested late Friday when his "customer" turned out to be an undercover cop, according to Assistant State's Attorney Erin Antonietti.

On Nov. 18, King was receiving dialysis treatments next to an 81-year-old woman at Northwestern when the woman reported her iPhone missing, Antonietti said.

The victim told police she saw King standing in her doorway several times that day. She had left her iPhone 5c, pink cover and charger on the counter, court records show.

Antonietti said King stayed at Northwestern for several days. Just before 10 p.m. Friday, he tried to sell the phone to an undercover police officer at a Gold Coast McDonald's, 10 E. Chicago Ave., authorities said.

King, of south suburban Calumet Park, was charged with felony theft.

On Monday, Judge Donald Panarese Jr. ordered King held in lieu of $75,000 bail.
