CHICAGO — Police said a report of an attempted child luring in Galewood is unfounded.

On Wednesday, police warned parents near Galewood to be alert after a man tried to lure a child into his van Tuesday morning.

Around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, a man in a van approached a 10-year-old girl in the 7000 block of West Bloomingdale Avenue, police said.

The man told the girl, "jump in. let's go for a ride" but she ran away to a nearby friend's house, police said. The man followed her briefly before fleeing.

But later Wednesday, police said the report was "unfounded." No more information was available.
