MCKINLEY PARK — Aldermanic candidates in the 12th and 25th wards will take questions from the audience in a forum hosted by the McKinley Park Progressive Alliance

The event takes place 5:30-7:45 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8 at McKinley Park branch of the Chicago Public Library, 1915 W. 35th St.

Scheduled to appear are Pete DeMay, the sole candidate taking on Ald. George Cardenas (12th) and Byron Sigcho and Jorge Mujica, two candidates vying for the seat of Ald. Danny Solis (25th).

Mayoral candidate Jesus "Chuy" Garcia is also expected to drop by.

Although the 12th Ward encompasses all of McKinley Park, the 25th Ward also cuts into it — there is a 10-square-block chunk north of 34th Street represented by Solis.

There are several more candidates running in the 25th Ward, including Ed Hershey, Troy Hernandez and Roberto "Beto" Montana, but event organizer Bill Drew said he didn't reach out to them because he's sure they're not viable candidates.

"I've been to these things before where they get out of hand, so this just seems a little more manageable," said Bill Drew, who heads up the McKinley Park Progressive Alliance.

It's unclear if Cardenas and Solis will attend Monday's forum, where candidates will take questions from the audience and discuss economic development plans.
