WEST RIDGE — Plans for a $17.6 million annex at Jamieson Elementary School will be revealed Tuesday at a community meeting.

Chicago Public Schools will host the 5:30 p.m. meeting in the school's main auditorium, 5650 N. Mozart St.

The proposed annex would be built on a parking lot on the south side of the school's original building, according to a CPS project summary.

The annex would add 16 classrooms and a lunchroom and multi-purpose room. The existing kitchen at the school would be converted into classrooms, while other rooms would be converted in to science labs and a music room. The existing playlot will also be replaced with a new one.

The annex is expected to be completed in fall 2016.

Jamieson is ranked as a top-tier school within the district serving 909 kindergarten through eighth-grade students.

This summer, CPS officials said Jamieson was among the most crowded schools in the district, and demand in the neighborhoods is expected to rise.
